Part of CENG’s commitment to raise awareness about traffic safety

The Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center (QTTSC) at Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) announced the winners of the Traffic Safety Ambassadors Program 2018 which was recently run in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the National Committee for Traffic Safety.

The program, which was sponsored by Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) and Dolphin Energy Limited, aimed at raising the school students and community awareness about the importance of traffic safety and at spreading safe driving behaviors.

Hassan Bin Thabet Secondary School for Boys won the first place, while Ahmed bin Hanbal Secondary School for Boys and Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Thani Secondary School for Boys won the second and third place respectively.

Present at the event were QTTSC Director Prof. Faris Tarlotchan and representatives from the General Directorate of Traffic, as well as CENG faculty and staff.

The ambassadors were guided on road safety and awareness campaigns by staff members from QU and the General Directorate of Traffic.

Commenting on the event, CENG Dean Dr. Khalifa Al-Khalifa said: “Through this initiative, CENG is encouraging the secondary schools students to be part of the traffic safety awareness program and to play a vital role in spreading this culture within the community and schools and in finding solutions to traffic safety challenges.”

QTTSC Director Prof. Faris Tarlotchan said: “QTTSC team is pleased today to involve secondary school students in this initiative which is run in coordination with the center’s partners for the benefit of all stakeholders who are committed to support QTTSC events that target the community and schools through campaigns, initiatives and public events.”

Dolphin Energy’s General Manager – Qatar Mr. Hassan Al-Emadi said: “We are very proud to support raising students’ awareness on the importance of traffic safety. The Traffic Safety Ambassadors Program is a great platform to implant safe driving behaviors at an early stage and encourage students to stay vigilant, eliminate distractions and follow road safety rules at all times. The program also helps spread a traffic safety culture within the community and reduce tragic road accidents. Congratulations to all involved.”
