About Us
Who Are We?
The Section of Writing and Language Support aims at supporting Qatar University students of all levels and proficiencies in their process of attainment of all skills and competencies in both the Arabic and English languages. Our services are free of charge for all Qatar University students.
Our approach is student-centered, collaborative and tailored towards students’ needs. It helps students address their writing and language learning needs, and empowers them with tools and strategies to overcome these challenges.
We employ Writing and Language Specialists who are native speakers and / or have advanced degrees in the field, along with devoted peer tutors who have established themselves as competent in all the writing and language skills that students might need help with.
The section consists of two main units: the English Support Unit and the Arabic Support Unit. Each unit includes both Writing and Language Labs.
What Do We Do?
We offer help to all QU students with both English-medium and Arabic-medium courses, and can also provide assistance to them with any other Arabic or English language related task.
The Writing programs are devoted to providing free tutoring services to help students with every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming ideas to final revision. Preparation for the IELTS exam is also available, particularly for Task 1 and Task 2 writing.
Meanwhile, the Language Lab’s free tutoring service can help students with any other part of the language learning process, including grammar, speaking, listening, and reading.
Our support services ensure student success through the various workshops, intensive programs and revision sessions we offer, as well as through one–on–one and group tutoring. Additionally we can supply helpful materials both online and in our center, where we are available from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, Sunday to Thursday.
The Section provides services to students from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Students can make an appointment online or drop-in by visiting our location at the Faculty Office Building1-C03, third floor.
